Alzheimers Care Facility in San Diego

If you’re over the age of 55 and listen to the news, you know the incidence of Alzheimer’s is on the rise.  Thankfully, so is the quality of research into the disease.

But that doesn’t help those of us who have a loved one with dementia now.  I do, as my mom was diagnosed in 2016.

Alzheimers care facilityAnd if you do, you may be wondering about an Alzheimers Care Facility.

The good news is there are many qualified care communities for people with all types of dementia.

The questions then are: are you ready to place your loved one in a care facility (community or home are terms I prefer).  And if so, how do you know where to look.  We can help.

If your loved one suffers from dementia, you know that daily tasks become more and more challenging.

In time your loved one with dementia will need help performing basic functions like getting dressed, eating, and bathing.  And eventually hospice or other end of life care will be required.

Caring for someone with dementia can be a full-time job.  And it not only requires expertise and skill, but lots of time and patience.

San Diego Dementia Care Facility

What are the options for a Dementia or Alzheimers Care Facility In San Diego?

If and when living in the family home becomes too difficult, a dementia or Alzheimers care facility in San Diego may be the answer.

Also known as “memory care”, these are specialized communities that can keep your loved one safe, assist with daily personal needs, and provide life enhancing programs.

A San Diego memory care facility can be more expensive than an assisted living community.  But it will be less expensive and much more appropriate than a nursing home (also called skilled nursing).  We’re happy to explain the difference.

Which Dementia Care Facility Is Right For Your Loved One?

Full Dementia Care Facility:  These are communities specifically set up for memory care.  They do not double as general assisted living communities.  All residents have dementia, including Alzheimer’s, or a related memory disorder.  And all day to day activities and structures are set up for their residents with dementia.
Dementia Care with Assisted Living:  Many assisted living communities also have a separate memory care floor or area.  This could be a good choice for a senior with Mild Cognitive Impairment or the early stages of dementia, when living in assisted living is still possible.  Then as things change, your loved one can transition from the assisted living portion of the community to the memory care area.
Board and Care Home:  Board and care homes are small homes that care for only a handful of residents, typically 6-12.  If the senior is not prone to wandering and would feel more at home in a smaller setting, this may be a good option.  Not all board and care homes can care for seniors with dementia, but most do.  Prices may also be more reasonable.

We’re here to help you figure out which dementia or Alzheimers care facility is most appropriate for your loved one.

Client Testimonials

I came across Lise after dealing with several other senior consultants, all of whom were either located out of town or not at all in tune with what I was looking for.

Lise was a “breath of fresh air”, taking the time and patience to learn about my parents and their needs.

She saved me LITERALLY hours upon hours of time and effort by providing me referrals to senior homes that met my criteria.

To say that she knows the San Diego senior market and is very well connected thereto would be an understatement!

At all times, her ONLY concern was getting my parents located in a place that was best for them, and for our family!

I recommend Lise without reservation. You may contact me for a reference/further information about my experience at any time.

Lisa found my mother in law a palace to live in for her final days. Give us tons of information and basically took us through the whole process all without charging a dime. She seems to know everything about everyone of the homes in this area and answered all of our questions at least twice (sorry about that part Lisa 🙂 Some of them on a Sunday afternoon (sorry about that too Lisa)

The place told us they were giving us a discount because they really like her (Lisa that is) which is awesome. Thank you so much for helping my dying relative find such a perfect place to spend what little time she has left.

There is no one better than Lise when it comes to placing a loved one. I have not seen anyone work harder and never give up on the more difficult cases. Being in Senior Care myself you learn quickly who you can trust, and I trust Lise more than any other Senior Care adviser out there!
